Even though it may feel warm and sunny today, Texas weather is known
for being unpredictable so its best to prepare your car for winter in
the event that snow and ice head our way. Late European has put together a list of winter service tips to get your car winter-ready in no time!
Windshield Wipers
Check your windshield wipers to determine if they need replacing.
Rain, sleet and snow can decrease your visibility on the road so you’ll
want to make sure your car is equipped with properly functioning
wipers.
Headlights
We’ve reached the time of year where the days are shorter and heavy
precipitation can arrive unexpectedly. Cleaning and waxing your
headlights is another way you can improve your visibility on the road,
even during less than ideal weather conditions. Waxing your headlights
will make them shine and create a slippery barrier that makes it harder
for slush or dirt to cling to.
Battery
Cold winter temperatures cause your battery to work extra hard which
can place more stress on it. Be proactive and check your battery now and
replace it if necessary. This will help you avoid getting stranded on a
cold morning with a dead battery.
Tires
Tires are another area on your car to pay special attention to during
the winter. Underinflated tires or tires with worn tread are no match
for the snow and ice so do yourself a favor and check these things
before you hit the road.
Survival Kit
The chances of you getting stuck in your car due to snow is very rare
in Texas but it doesn’t hurt to have a survival kit on hand for other
emergencies. Create a kit that includes items like a lighter, candle,
flashlight, towels or blankets, first aid kit and work gloves. Feel free
to customize the kit to your liking!
